Updates fr Shanghai
Firstly and most importantly, I need to thank yx for helping me to edit my blog and make it so beautiful. I'm such a blog idiot. haha

Yesterday I took half day of leave because of food poisoning. I really think it was caused by the food in the company's canteen. Oh well, maybe is my weak stomach. My boss is really nice. He gave me half day off and I asked him if I need to inform HR, he replied: "Nah, it's between you and me."

Oh yah, I need to thank Wing Hong for cooking porridge for me yesterday, it was nice! Today we cooked rice with japanese curry and vegetable soup. Yum yum! So glad that at least I have a non oily dinner. Lunch at workplace is horribly oily.

Weather in Shanghai now is no longer hot, it is now super windy and it drizzles now and then. I'm really scared if it pours, cos there's no way you are able to carry an umbrella.

First Day at Givaudan
Work finally starts today! The company I'm attached to is Givaudan which is dealing with flavour and fragrance. I am attached to the fragrance department while Jun Boon is attached to flavour department. He very shiok lah, can taste alot of different food.

Starting time is different for people who took different shuttle bus. My shuttle bus reaches early, so I have to start work early lor... =( Shuttle bus leaves at 5.15pm sharp, no extra minute given. So I find an excuse to leave early liao. haha

Lunch is provided by the company. Not bad, got pork, beef, fish to choose from, there are a lot of vegetables and there is bun and apple to eat. The apple I gotten is rotten! Faintz! Lucky I haven't eat yet.

My supervisor is French, heng ar.. no need to speak Chinese. haha. There are 4 people in the department I'm attached to; one supervisor, one China staff who is a Master graduate and another French intern, who is taking her Master Degree. They are very friendly and helpful. Hope the remaining 5 months plus will be an enjoyable one!

Starting Life in Shanghai - Eat and Shop, Eat and Shop
Since work will only start on Monday, what I have been doing is eat and shop eat and shop. During the first day, we only went to shop around those supermarkets near my apartment. There is one giant supermarket that is similar to Carrerfour, which is called Metro. One thing lame to shop at this supermarket is that it requires membership card to make payment. Luckily there was one kind person who lent us her card. We bought quite a lot of household items from there and it was difficult to carry back home as the weather super hot! Now then I admire my mum who usually carries so many groceries herself. So SISTERS, please help mum, don’t be lazy! (Opps! Hope they don’t ask me to return them money)

Spot the difference between these 2 pictures taken at Hong Kong Style Cafe by the waitress.

The sun rises at 4am here. So it is very bright by the time it is 5 am. As I am usually awake when the sun is out at 7am in Singapore, I ended up waking up at 5 plus in the morning for the past few days. =(

Second day, we went to Ikea and Cheng Huang Miao. Ikea is quite similar to Singapore’s with dining place and huge area. Ate Japanese style Chicken leg with rice. Nice!

After that, we proceed to Cheng Huang Miao and ate the xiao long bao at Nanxiang. We should have gone up to level 3 to eat the big xiao long bao. We went to level 2 and ate the normal xiao long bao instead. Crystal Jade’s is better, however. Haha

For dinner, we ate at Japanese restaurant. I ordered cod fish rice set which cost 30rmb. Price is very reasonable as the amount of food is a lot.

For the third day, we went to check out where is Fudan University. There are 9 different train lines in Shanghai unlike in Singapore, there are only NS line, EW line and NEL line. However, it is quite alright lah. Not very confusing. After that we proceed to shop at Renmin Guang Chang. There’s Raffles City in which is quite high end. So we walked to Nanjing Road and ate dinner at the famous大娘饺子.Food here is super cheap. 16rmb for a set meal which is crazily can’t be finished by one person. We continued shopping and I bought 2 doreamon slippers at Baleno! Super cute! One for you, da jie.

It is now 8am Saturday morning, my roommates are still deep asleep. How I wish I can sleep till so late. Sun, please don’t come out so fast leh. Haha. We will most probably be going to 七浦路 to shop for cheap cheap stuff. Omg, not much money left. *wink wink

Arrival at Pudong
Seriously I don't know how to start. hmm.. let me thanks those who sent me off at the airport first, Pei Wen, Marcus, Yong Xiang, John, Lim, Low, Quek, JJ, ZY, Les and Ds, and lastly my parents. I think T3 was filled with friends and family members of those who were going Shanghai. So crowded!

Upon reaching Pudong Airport, I was super shocked by the weather. OMG! It's so hot, dry, dusty. Good thing is, I'm getting used to it (I hope!) There were buses to send us to GIP office in Shanghai. Our bus (only mine!) was very small. Our luggages had to be stacked in the bus and it was so chaotic.

Thats all for now! Going out soon to enjoy the heat (ya rite!)
